Back Room Assistant
This position is for a mature, energetic, self-motivated and organized individual. Must be able to work independently after receiving the day's instruction. Must have excellent computer skills.
Specific duties Include:
- Receiving, unpacking and pricing freight through our point of sales system

Maintaining the back stockroom area in an orderly, organized and efficient manner

Filing all related paperwork in appropriate files

Making certain the area used for unpacking, (parking lot, back freight area, etc) is kept clean and uncluttered at all times

Being responsible for all shipping of merchandise for customers

Handling damages and returns

This is a full time summer position. Must be available through Labor Day with the potential for year round employment.
Sales and Marketing Position
Year-round home store and gift shop in Martha's Vineyard seeks a sales and marketing person to help with customer service, advertising, social media and buying. This is a perfect opportunity for someone eager to learn the ins and outs of a vibrant small business. The position is 30 hours/week, with the opportunity for bonuses based on performance.
This position requites the ability to work directly with customers on the sales floor as well as "behind the scenes." S/he must be personable and self-directed with the ability to deal comfortably with customers, sales representatives, and companies.
Working with the owner, s/he will execute the store's social media and marketing strategies, including advertisements, special promotions, and customer loyalty programs.
The candidate will also be responsible for placing orders and maintaining the store's aesthetic.
Specific duties include:
- Customer service on the sales floor, including placing special orders and communicating product information
- Managing email blasts and social media accounts, such as Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest
- Maintaining an advertising schedule and working with designers to create ads
- Selecting products for the store, tracking stock levels, and placing orders
- Assisting owner with special products as needed
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree

Sales or other customer-focused experience

Experience with social media and customer relationship management (CRM) in a business or non-profit setting

Interest in new trends in fashion and home furnishings

Attention to detail, including copyediting and proofing designs

Artistic ability and experience with design software a plus
